The Silence We Broke is complete.
A hidden American facility. An alien survivor held for forty years. And a distress signal that finally reaches home. Sheldon Kornyk’s new adult first-contact science-fiction thriller is complete at approximately 84,000 words.
The novel explores first contact from both sides of the encounter—grief, anger, responsibility, justice, and what happens when humanity is finally forced to answer for a secret it believed would remain buried forever.

What I’m working on now
With four BEYOND THE FOLD novels complete, work is underway on ORIGINS OF THE FOLD, the fifth novel in the series.
I am also continuing work on OKAY… I’M SOBER. NOW WHAT?, a memoir about what comes after getting sober—the routines, relationships, setbacks, responsibilities, ordinary victories, and everyday work of learning to live again.
At the same time, BEYOND THE FOLD, THE SILENCE WE BROKE, and JUST ONE MORE DAY are moving through the traditional publishing submission process.
This section will follow new manuscripts, finished drafts, publishing milestones, and some of the decisions that happen between the first idea and the finished book.
Behind the Stories
More than announcements.
News & Media will also include occasional pieces about the ideas behind the books—building the ancient Road network of BEYOND THE FOLD, imagining first contact in THE SILENCE WE BROKE, writing honestly about lived experience in JUST ONE MORE DAY, and exploring what comes after getting sober in OKAY… I’M SOBER. NOW WHAT?
There will also be notes from the writing process, technology and worldbuilding, recovery-focused nonfiction, completed manuscript milestones, and the occasional look at what happens behind the scenes while a book makes its way toward readers.
The Newsletter
Occasional. Personal. Worth opening.
For readers who would like to follow the journey a little more closely, the Sheldon Kornyk newsletter brings together book news, works in progress, excerpts, publishing milestones, recovery-focused writing, and occasional notes from behind the stories.
There won’t be a daily barrage or an email simply because the calendar says it’s time to send one. I’ll write when there is something genuinely worth sharing.
Past editions will also be archived on the Newsletter page, so they can be read even if you weren’t subscribed when they were originally sent.
