About Sheldon

Sheldon Kornyk

Canadian author of science fiction, memoir, and nonfiction.

Sheldon Kornyk writes stories about people confronting the unexpected—whether that means discovering worlds beyond anything humanity imagined or facing the consequences of choices much closer to home.

Across genres, his work returns to questions of discovery, consequence, resilience, and what people do after everything changes.

The Author

Writing across worlds—and from lived experience.

In his science fiction, Sheldon explores first contact, ancient mysteries, lost civilizations, and the consequences of humanity reaching beyond the boundaries of the familiar. His Beyond the Fold series begins with an exploratory mission into deep space and expands into a story spanning worlds, civilizations, and an ancient network whose origins reach far deeper into history than anyone first understands.

His nonfiction turns inward. Just One More Day: A Memoir of Falling and Getting Back Up tells a personal story of addiction, family, collapse, treatment, relapse, and rebuilding. His developing nonfiction project, OK I’m Sober, Now What?, looks beyond the moment of getting sober toward the challenge of building a life worth protecting.

Whether the setting is another world or the difficult terrain of one’s own life, Kornyk’s work is ultimately concerned with the same question: what happens after the moment that changes everything?

Current Work

Science fiction. Memoir. Nonfiction.

Kornyk’s current body of work includes the four-book Beyond the Fold science-fiction series, the memoir Just One More Day, and the nonfiction project OK I’m Sober, Now What?
