Sheldon Kornyk is a Canadian author and former technology entrepreneur based in British Columbia. His work includes the standalone thriller The Silence We Broke, the four-book Beyond the Fold series, and the memoir Just One More Day.
Across genres, he writes about discovery, survival, human connection, and the choices people make when familiar lives are overturned.
The Author
Writing across worlds—and from lived experience.
Before turning his focus to writing, Kornyk built and managed an international software business, developed enterprise manufacturing software, worked with distributors across multiple countries, and established overseas operations. That background informs the technological, organizational, and cross-cultural elements of his fiction.
His standalone novel The Silence We Broke begins with an alien rescue fleet discovering that its missing crew has been imprisoned and abused on Earth for forty years. The ensuing confrontation brings together a grieving sister, her surviving brother, and a human linguist trying to keep two worlds listening. Military action and public testimony unfold alongside a story of family, anger, accountability, and recovery.
His completed four-book Beyond the Fold series begins with humanity’s discovery of an ancient network connecting distant worlds and expands through first contact, exploration, conflict, liberation, and the question of whether connection should ever become control. Its interstellar stakes remain grounded in recurring characters, family relationships, dry humour, and the consequences of decisions made across worlds.
His nonfiction draws directly on lived experience. Just One More Day: A Memoir of Falling and Getting Back Up traces a life from childhood poverty to international business success, then through devastating loss, addiction, homelessness, treatment, relapse, and the difficult work of rebuilding. Told with candour and humour, the completed memoir examines both the damage of addiction and the daily effort of recovery.
His developing nonfiction project, OK I’m Sober, Now What?, continues that conversation beyond the immediate crisis of getting sober. It explores the less visible challenge of building and sustaining a life worth protecting.
Whether his characters are facing another civilization or the consequences of their own choices, Kornyk is interested in what they do next—and the people who help them find their way.
