The Story
Freedom is spreading. So is the danger.
The Fold Alliance has grown from a fragile network of newly connected worlds into something larger. Then a damaged Dominion vessel arrives at Haven seeking asylum, bringing evidence that the empire has entered the forbidden Origin region and is pursuing an ancient authority tied to the Fold itself.
The defection exposes cracks inside the Dominion. Talora rises. Then Kellis. Across occupied space, worlds that were taught resistance was impossible begin choosing their own futures.
Naomi and Gabriel lead an expanding coalition into Dominion territory, while Mara follows the archaeological trail through newly restored relationships. But the Alliance refuses to become the next empire: it cannot give those worlds freedom, only help them survive long enough to keep the freedom they have chosen.
For Evan Mercer, the conflict becomes personal. As Keeper, he carries access to an ancient authority the Dominion wants badly enough to capture him—or kill him.
Every restored world also brings the network closer to a condition hidden for thousands of years: seventeen relationships, First Authority, the First Archive, and a decision over whether the Fold remains a connection between free civilizations—or becomes an instrument of centralized control.
